Rich bitch.

I stop in the middle of the driveway, hot sunlight warming me in my leather jacket, and watch her cross through a breezeway, heels softly clicking on the cobblestone. Wind blows her hair around her face, and strands of gold shimmer in the sun.

Laughter floats through the air, hardly audible over the bubbling fountain surrounded by perfectly groomed white flowers. She’s busy talking on the phone as she gets into a black Tesla, and doesn’t even see me.
But it’s not the first time I’ve seen her, nor is it the first time I’ve walked up these thick, stone steps leading to the Davenwood Manor. I set my gaze on the dark oak double doors, covered in intricate carvings and the letters “D” and “W” etched into the frosted glass.

The Tesla quietly comes to life and takes off down the driveway. I turn, unable to help but admire the beauty of both the car and the driver. I don’t like the way my heart flutters when I get a glimpse of her face in the rearview mirror. Her golden brown hair tangles behind her in the wind as she accelerates. She’s so grown up, miles from the scraggly girl I used to run around with. I blink and turn back to the doors, noticing a security camera tucked away in a corner of this ostentatious covered porch, and knock on the door.

Just seconds later, the door is pulled back and I’m hit with a blast of cold air.
“Good afternoon,” a voice comes from inside. I’m not able to see the speaker in the dark foyer. “Mr. King, I presume?”
“Yes,” I say gruffly.

The outline of a butler dressed in all black comes into view. He bows his head slightly and extends his arm. “Come in.”
I step inside the century-old mansion, remembering the first time I set foot in this place twenty years ago. I couldn’t wait to get inside then, thinking it looked like a place Bruce Wayne might have spent his childhood before he turned into a vigilante. And maybe—just maybe—there could be a badass billionaire living in here too that I’d stumble into when I got lost on my way to the bathroom. That never happened, of course, much to my childhood disappointment.

“Mr. Davenwood is waiting for you,” the butler continues and turns, leading me through the foyer. The place is dim, and all the dark wood and faded paintings aren’t helping. Weird, how I feel so closed in from the lack of light when this place is fucking huge. The same familiar smells hang in the air: wood polish, leather, and an earthy perfume. The scent of the rich.

I follow behind the butler. I’ve been in here before, but can’t navigate around all 20,000 square feet. The house darkens the further in we go, and I can’t help but feel like I’m walking into the belly of the beast. The butler opens another set of heavy oak doors, and steps to the side. Sunlight pours through two-story windows that are surrounded by bookshelves that run from the floor all the way to the ceiling. A balcony runs around the perimeter of the bookshelves, and a metal ladder is attached to the shelves. A large desk is situated in front of a cast iron spiral staircase. A man who I haven’t seen in years sits at that desk. I pause, keeping my face neutral. Those years have not been kind to him.

“Grayson King.” With a crunch of leather, Alcott Davenwood rises from the tall chair and buttons his navy blue jacket. “It’s been too long.” He gives a curt nod to the butler, who steps out of the library and closes the door. Alcott turns his attention back to me with a slight smile on his thin lips.

I move my head up and down, unsure of the etiquette of the rich. I don’t really give a shit, but I’m too curious to make a wrong move and piss the guy off. We haven’t seen each other since my father’s funeral six years ago, and suddenly he’s calling me, asking that I come from my home in California to this estate in New York with no explanation as to why.

“Thank you for coming,” he says and moves around the desk. “You look well, considering.” Standing a few feet in front of me, he looks me over before clapping me on the back. The greeting is over quickly, and he extends his hand to the velvet couch. I sit on the edge, flicking my eyes around the library.
Alcott goes back to his desk, and with a heavy sigh, sits in the tall chair. He puts his elbows on the desk and swallows. “You’re wondering why I called.” He’s not asking; he knows I’m in the dark. “There’s no easy way to put this, and you know I’m not one to bullshit around things.”

I don’t know that, because I don’t know Alcott Davenwood. My father did, and the years of friendship and trust between them has created some sort of weird bond between the man and myself. If my father trusted this man, then I trust him. My father didn’t hand out trust and friendship to just anyone. And if it wasn’t for Alcott, his attorney, and his money, my father wouldn’t have been able to get custody of me and I’d never escaped my drug addicted mother living in a run down apartment in the ghetto of Chicago. I’ve only seen Alcott a few times in person, but I know I basically owe this man my life.

That’s never a good debt to have.
“I’m dying.” Alcott’s voice cuts through my thoughts.
“What?” I say, even though I clearly heard him.
“I’m dying,” he repeats and puts his hand to his chest. “Lung cancer.”
I blink, not knowing what to say. “I’m sorry…but why are you telling me?”

Alcott lets out a hearty laugh. “A fair question. I’m a businessman, Grayson. Protecting my assets is a priority, and there is nothing more important to me than my daughter. I’m sure you remember her.”
Of course I remember Pepper Davenwood. She’s not someone you can ever forget. Though judging by the way she peeled out of the driveway in her expensive car, she sure as shit doesn’t remember me.
“Pepper is safe, well guarded. She knows this. Hell, the world knows this. No one will touch her…while I’m alive.”

Silence falls between us as things click into place. “How long do you have?”
“The doctors gave me six months.”
“How long ago?” I find myself leaning forward.

“Six months ago. I’m on an experimental drug that’s giving me more time. But as with life, it’s never enough.” Alcott inhales deeply and looks out the window. His face remains stoic, but I catch a glimpse of emotion in his eyes. A ruthless businessman coming from a long line of rich assholes, Alcott Davenwood has made a fair share of enemies in his day. His gray eyes move back to me. “I assume you know why you’re here now.”

“Why me?”
“I need someone capable,” he begins to explain. “You’re a man with a particular skill set, one that can come in handy while protecting my daughter.”

I feel my chest begin to tighten as it hits me that Alcott Davenwood knows me a hell of a lot better than I know him. It makes sense though; I wondered how the hell my father was able to pay my bail and afford that lawyer just months before he passed. I swallow hard and look at Alcott, still having a hard time wrapping my head around how someone like him—a high society man, with an aristocratic family tree, and more money than God—could be such good friends with a man like my father, who’s biggest claim to fame was becoming VP of The Jackals Motorcycle Club for three years before his heart attack.

Alcott Davenwood and Nicolas King were polar opposites. Maybe that’s why they made such good friends, kept the interest in each other’s lives. My father rarely spoke of his time in the Army, but I know that’s how they met.
“And,” Alcott lowers his voice, leaning forward over his desk. “I need someone I can trust.”
I raise an eyebrow. “You trust me?” I could bust out laughing right now, but don’t. The thought of something happening to Pepper is sobering.
“I do trust you,” he says, speaking each word slowly. “You are your father’s son.”
“You know my past…I’ve done some bad things,” I blurt.

Alcott’s eyes narrow and his weak smiles widens. “So have I.”
The man before me is aged, weakened by sickness. Yet I find him more intimidating than anyone I’ve ever met, and I’ve met some fucked up people. Because a man like Alcott Davenwood has money, and money can buy anything.
“Don’t you have hired guards?” I can’t help but ask.
“Many. But the thing is, they work for me. And when I’m gone…” He trails off with a shake of his head.

Yeah, I get it. Once Alcott is dead and gone, the company and all the Davenwood riches fall to Pepper, his only child. And last time I checked—granted it was years ago—Pepper had no interest in taking over the empire. She’ll sit back and let whoever the hell her father assigned assistant status to make the decisions. She’ll be a sitting duck, at the mercy of the highest bidder.
“My Pepper is a smart girl,” Alcott goes on. “Smart, and kind.” He says it like a flaw, like he’s saying she’s lazy or vain.

Alcott might be the only person in the world to think kindness is a flaw, but when people are constantly trying to pull the rug out from underneath you—and that rug happens to be made of billions—maybe you see the world differently.
“So,” he continues. “Are you interested in the position?”
“What exactly do I have to do?” I ask, though it doesn’t feel like I have much of a choice. If I say no, I’m fairly sure Alcott Davenwood would see to it the rest of my life is even shittier than it already is.

“Learn Pepper’s habits, where she likes to spend time with, who her friends are…without being seen.”
“You want me to spy on her?” I lean back on the soft velvet couch, cocking an eyebrow.
“I wouldn’t phrase it that way,” Alcott tells me, though really, I could think of worse things than watching Pepper all day. “Knowing who she associates with now before the public learns of my demise is imperative.”
Before the pubic… “Pepper doesn’t know, does she?”

“Only the doctors at Good Faith Methodist Hospital and now you know. And I’d like to keep it that way.”
I move my head up and down, looking right into Alcott’s eyes, and wonder why the fuck would he keep this from his daughter? My old man and I weren’t exactly best buddies, but when it came down to his final hour, I wished I’d known and taken advantage of the time we had together.

An image of Pepper flashes in my mind, to the fleeting time I got to call her mine. She was eighteen and full of rebellion and lust. I remember the times I’d sneak over, coming through the woods and meeting her in the courtyard. She’d bring me up into her room, and we assumed no one knew. Judging by the blinking red light in every corner of this room alone, this place has as much security as the White House.
It’s a wonder Alcott never skinned me alive.

Though in hindsight, I wasn’t a threat. I didn’t care about her money or her family name.
Only her.

“I will pay you well,” Alcott says. “More than double what you’re making and Cal’s Customs, and more than you’d ever be able to earn on your own given your…your status.” My criminal record, he means. “And I will provide you with a place to live, a new phone number, and a vehicle more conspicuous than that hunk of metal you ride around.”
My fingers twitch, wanting to curl into fists. Don’t insult my bike, no matter who you are…and how the fuck does he know all this? Right. You can buy information. I internally shudder. No wonder he needs someone from the outside to watch over Pepper.

“I prefer to provide you with whatever you need…leave the past behind you, so to speak,” he says and narrows his eyes. He leans forward, looking me right in the eye. “This may be presumptuous of me, but I assume you want out.”
My mouth goes dry and sweat breaks out along my back. Alcott knows fucking everything. And of course I want out. I never wanted in. No one gets out alive. No one. I look Alcott hard in the eye, and he raises his eyebrows ever so slightly, telling me it’s possible.

No one has gotten out alive…but no one had a billionaire buying their freedom either. I might have a snowball’s chance in hell, but if I can get out, get away, and keep the skin on my back…fuck. It’s worth it on its own.
“Glad we can come to an agreement,” Alcott says.
“I haven’t accepted the job yet,” I remind him.

Alcott looks at me, the smile gone. I keep my face set, a bit of a permanent scowl darkening my features. It’s in my nature to play hardball, to not let anyone not let anyone know what’s going on beneath the surface. If I were a betting man, I could make a decent profit by betting that Alcott already knows what I’ve worked so damn hard to bury.
Because if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have called me. And I wouldn’t have risked everything to come here. But I’ll be damned to admit it to anyone else, let alone myself.

I’ve been in love with Pepper Davenwood since the day we met.

Review of Playboy Pilot a Naughty Bad Boy Read

My Review of Playboy Pilot a naughty bad boy read by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. It will have you wanting to run to the airport to find your own pilot.

Rating: 4/5

“Money or love? Which would you choose?

You probably just answered the question in your head thinking it’s an easy decision.

For me, it’s not. Did I mention it’s a lot of money? A hell of a lot.

I needed to go far away to think it through.

As I embarked on an impulsive trip, I hit a detour when I met sexy Carter in the airport lounge. We struck up a heated conversation.

Then, he left.

I thought I’d never see him again.

But fate had other plans.

Surprise! He was the pilot of my flight.

The bigger surprise was the adventure that followed after the plane landed.

Carter was dangerous and always on the move.

Even though our connection was magnetic, I knew it was only temporary.

He would give me tickets, and I would follow him around the world to exotic places.

A bevy of flight attendant exes and rumors about Carter’s reputation were never far behind.

I didn’t know what to believe.

But I was addicted. Nothing else mattered anymore. And I was going to get hurt. Because a part of me wanted to be the one to finally ground the playboy pilot.

At the very least, he was taking me on a thrilling ride.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.”

My thoughts ya’ll:

Both Kendall and Carter find something in each other they didn’t realize they were looking for. They take a leap of faith to spend more time together. Their meeting is like that daydream you have about meeting some hot guy, throwing caution to the wind and letting him just sweep you off your feet to travel to exotic places unknown. It helps that she has pretty much unlimited funds. Their adventure is funny, life changing, and a whole lot steamy. And isn’t that what an adventure should be? Carter and Kendall’s chemistry is apparent right from the first meeting. Carter has that raw animal magnetism that attracts Kendall and many other women if you know what I mean. The story is called Playboy Pilot.

I have read both authors before on their own but I have to say, they are even better together. This was a sexy read and laugh out loud at the same time. Isn’t that the best? Even though Kendal’s upbringing could easily make you hate her, she isn’t what you’d think she would be. She’s sweet and almost naive. Carter is the epitome of a bad boy and he has a dirty mouth to go with it. I don’t know that I would have handled his playboy ways in as poised a manner as Kendall did. Both of these ladies write real emotions so well. You feel like you’re having to make Kendall’s decision with her. They make it so easy to put yourself in the character’s shoes.

My Review:

I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it began to seem a little predictable. There were some unique aspects to the story and some suspenseful scenes as well, but I felt like I knew what was going to happen already. I would have liked for there to be a little more drama or mystery to both characters. There was some drama, but nothing too crazy. I just thought there could have been more. I did like that it was written in dual POV. It’s great when you get a glimpse into both the hero and heroine’s minds.

Reading Playboy pilot made me want to jump my husband during the sexy scenes. I read a good portion of it while walking on the treadmill and I had to control my smile so I didn’t look like a lunatic…or a perv. So keep that in mind. It was a fun read and definitely makes me want to check out more of Penelope and Vi’s collabs.

Why you should read it:

You should read it because this writing duo is romance fire. They know how to make characters come alive. Carter is sexy as hell and his heart is made of gold. This playboy pilot is ready to take off with your heart. Too corny?…well read it anyway. You won’t regret it.

About the Authors:

Penelope Ward is from Boston. She’s a former news anchor, but thankfully she found her true calling. She’s the author of Roomhate and My Skylar. If you want to purchase more of her collabs with Vi, head over to her amazon author page here.

Review of Torn A Scorching Hot Read

This scorching hot read will having you fanning yourself from the heat. He’s her “uncle” and she’s his everything. Will their family understand?

Rating: 5/5

He’s loved me since the day I was born.
He’s taken care of me.
He’s awakened me.

Tor. My father’s best friend.
Fifteen years older than me, he’s always been my protector. The one I should never, ever want.
But I was born to be his.

She’s always loved me.
She’s shattered me.
She’s healed me.
Kenzi. My best friend’s daughter.
I held her the day she was born, and I never let go.
She’s forbidden to me. But she’s the only one that really gets me.
We’re slowly being torn apart by everything we love.
Everything we want.
Everything we desire.

And now I want the one thing I can’t have… I want her.

** Please note: there is NO underage sex in this book. This book is intended for readers 18 years and older **

My thoughts ya’ll:

First of all, let’s address the elephant in the room. You’ve read the synopsis and it probably made you a little leery of reading Torn. You’re not alone. I went back and forth several times on whether I wanted to read this book. I thought dirty taboo read. And I’m just not down with that. I was hesitant but, I read it anyway. I realized they were characters from the Ashes and Embers series by Carian. I’m so glad I did too. It does make me glad that she wrote the note at the bottom of the synopsis though. It eased my mind even more.

Finally, to the good stuff. Tor and Kenzi’s feelings were so realistic. You feel torn just like them because the writing is excellent. Their forbidden feelings create such drama between all the characters and I like drama and angst in my stories. It does raise my blood pressure though:) Carian is able to convey the emotions of uncertainty and second guessing that could easily happen in any new relationship. Age and familiarity just happen to be a factor in this one as well.

Tor was the perfect book boyfriend. He puts Kenzie first, thinks of her best interest, and takes care of her feelings like no one else can. You feel guilty for even saying he’s a good book boyfriend, because clearly after reading, you realize that he is Kenzi’s through and through. Tor is an alpha male for sure. Kenzi isn’t your typical high school student either. She’s has more adult life experience and her upbringing causes her to march to the beat of her own drum. She has maturity far beyond her peers.

My Review:

Most of all the writing was incredible. Carian did a great job of telling their story and she told it in such an agonizingly sweet way. It pulls you into the love story and makes you root for them from the very beginning. They have a unique relationship. There are flash backs through out the story that strengthen the evidence of their bond and really give you a glimpse into just how deep it is. Tor and Kenzi really are soulmates. It shows in their love and devotion to each other.

There’s no underage hanky panky going on. After she becomes of legal age, there was some super steamy scenes between them though.

The title is appropriate. She’s his niece and the woman he wants his forever with. Tor has convinced himself he isn’t a good guy because he knows the taboo and stigma of who he wants. The writing makes you feel Tor’s anxiety and apprehension so well. Also, Kenzie’s persistence and naivety is easy to recognize as well. But that’s what makes it so amazing in the end, they both just can’t help themselves.

Why you should read it:

Stop debating and go read Torn because it’s an amazing read and a unique perspective on a love story. It literally melts your heart and your panties. Carian did not disappoint. If you’re like I was and debating on whether to read it, just dive in. You won’t regret it.

About the Author:

Carian Cole has a passion for writing bad boys and sweet girls for them to love. It’s evident in her series Ashes and Embers and this first book in the Devils Wolves Series. She’s talented and brings the character’s too life. If you want to check out her other titles head on over to her amazon page here and show her some love.

Review of 28 Days A Romantic Suspense

A review of 28 Days A Romantic Suspense by Lexi Buchanan.

Rating: 5/5

Sentenced to death…

All hope gone…
Until he receives a visit from victim #6

Condemned for a crime he didn’t commit, Quinten Peterson sat on death row praying for a miracle. He just never expected his angel of mercy to be the girl he fell in love with so long ago.

The press called her a victim, but Saige Lockwood was a survivor. And she had twenty-eight days to discover the truth about what really happened to her that fateful night, eight years ago.

With time running out, Saige desperately needed to unlock her memories . . . before it was too late.

My thoughts ya’ll:

I knew I was going to love this book because suspense and romance are the perfect match to me. I absolutely could not put this book down, no matter how hard I tried or how much sleep I lost. Saige is a strong character even though she has so many obstacles thrown at her and Quentin is the ultimate book boyfriend. He is sweet and gentle and respectful even when you wouldn’t blame him if he wasn’t. And that beard…I’d forgive him for almost anything because of it. His prison stay and death sentence really made me think about just how many of our prisoners are probably sitting in prison or on death row that are just as innocent.

The writing was so gut wrenching at times and there were a few places where you felt like Lexi slapped you because you just didn’t see it coming. The suspense and mystery were killer, pun intended (hehehe), and the love story is epic and heartbreaking at the same time. You are just hoping that by some miracle of God, that Quentin is released and they can resume the life that they should have had all along. There are some twists and turns, even until the very last few pages of the book, that you just don’t see coming and you hope Lexi has it in her to write a companion novel because damn…did not see that coming. At. All.

My Review:

It’s a suspenseful ride for all who are hoping that Quentin doesn’t lose his life in 28 days. There are several points of views that bring the story together and make you understand all that went on at the time of her abduction and just before and after. You find out the back story of Quentin and how he and Saige come to know each other. His brother is also an integral part to Saige’s journey of discovery.

Saige is working at a diner and hears something that changes her life. Her accused abductor and murderer of 5 other women is on death row and has 28 days to live. She’s confused and finds herself looking for answers because she has no memory of the time around her kidnapping and torture and can’t seem to find any malice for him. Even though she should. He did terrible things to her, right?

Through this journey, she finds that all is not what it seems and some of the people closest to her are not who they claim to be. I loved the suspense of the story and that you were discovering all of the deceptions and secrets at the same time as Saige.

Why you should read it:

I cannot stress how much you need to read this story. It’s intriguing, mysterious, and sexy. It’s also heart wrenching and filled with twists and turns you don’t see coming. I’m warning you now that you’ll pull an all nighter trying find out what happens to Quentin.

About the Author:

Lexi Buchanan is the  New York Times best selling author of not only 28 Days but the Bad Boy Rockers Series and the McKenzie Brothers Series. She is a master of writing steamy romances. If you want to know more about her check out her author page at or head over to her amazon page here and purchase some of her other amazing titles.

Did you gasp out loud at any of the scenes? Smile when Quentin and Saige got their happily ever after? Tell me your thoughts friend!

Review of Entrapment (Infidelity Book 4) A Romantic Suspense

27217725 Review of Entrapment (Infidelity Book 4) A Romantic Suspense by Aleatha Romig.

Rating: 5/5

“The snare is set—leaving, friendships, lives, and futures dangling in the balance”

ENTRAPMENT continues the epic new romantic suspense series INFIDELITY, featuring Lennox “Nox” Demetri, Alexandria “Charli” Collins, the Montagues, and the Demetris.

The thrills, heat, and suspense continue to add up…

One chance meeting
One sexy, possessive alpha and one spunky, determined heroine
One week of uncontainable, unbridled passion
One impulsive decision
Two declarations of love
divided by…
The sum of intertwining pasts, lies, and broken rules

“Infidelity – it isn’t what you think”

My thoughts ya’ll:

Aleatha is one of my all time favorite authors. On Aleatha’s twitter page it asks “Have you been Aleatha’d?” All I can say is I seem to forget every time that I have been until I’m blown away by another of her intriguing and thrilling stories. She knows how to make the back of my knees sweat! I had to take anxiety breaks, because the suspense of the story was just too much at times.

I knew going in that it was going to be a cliffhanger and did my girl leaving me hanging! Her style of writing is riveting to say the least. You literally dream about going back to read some more. I stayed up reading until midnight and it took me about 30 minutes to come down just a little from my book hangover so that I could close my eyes and sleep. My mind is still racing with possibilities and questions as to how this is going to pan out.

Entrapment is the continuation of Alex and Nox’s love story. Alex is coerced into following “the rules” and going with her stepdad, Alton, under the assumption that her coming easily will allow her access to her sick mother. Now I’m going to stop here and say that if you haven’t read the previous three books, you’ll get a good story but you’ll probably be pretty lost. Through the twists and turns of the story, you find out just how f-ed up her Grandfather’s will is and the lengths her stepfather will go to to keep his fortune. There are so many pieces to the Infidelity puzzle, and I cannot wait until January 17 to come so I can put the pieces together.

My Review:

Like Aleatha’s other books, it’s written from several different character’s points of view. She ensures that you as the reader know some of the puzzle just like the characters, but you’re still scrambling to find solid ground and make sense of everything when you get another piece. I can’t tell you how many times I gasped out loud while reading this book. The plot just keeps thickening the more you read.

Is Alex willing to pay the price to save it all? She is, but you find it’s on her own terms, which creates the angst and intrigue that makes you want to read as quickly as possible to find out just how she’ll do it. Or if she even is able to. She’s had to deal with expectations and rules all of her life and she’s used to behaving one way and seething with fury on the inside. Alex is better than me because I would have cut someone by then!

Aleatha’s writing is magnificent and that’s not a word I use on a regular basis or at all really. That’s just how amazing her storytelling ability is.

Why you should read it:

If you have not read this author, beware. You will not do laundry, you will not eat or drink, you will not notice your husband talking to you because she has you from the first word and will not let go! Seriously, you may not even go to the bathroom…just sayin. So clear your schedule and prepare your mind because you’ll need to to survive the fourth book of the Infidelity series.

About the Author:

Aleatha live in Indiana. She’s married to her high school sweetheart and has 3 children. She’s the brilliant author of not only the Infidelity series, but the Consequences Series (which I rave about here) and The Light Series. If you want to learn more about her or purchase some of her amazing books, head over to her amazon author page here.

Are you waiting for all of them to come out or could you just not wait like me? Tell me right down there.

Clear Your Skin Naturally after a Breakout of Acne

Here are 7 steps of how to clear your skin naturally after a breakout. Just a side note before we jump in- I’m not a dermatologist but these things have worked for me. They’re not products just things you can do or change to get that beautiful skin we all want. I find that when I stray from this, my skin starts to show it pretty quickly. This was the routine I used once I got off of birth control so I know there was nothing else that was affecting it.

I’ve had highs and lows when it comes to my face. Perfectly clear youthful glowing skin and not wanting to leave the house because its so terrible kind of skin. So I feel your pain…sometimes literally (those painful zits can hurt like nobody’s business). I always got clear skin and slacked on my skin care routine because I thought of it as a final goal instead of a lifestyle. So when you find something that works for you, keep it up…even after your skin is clear.

What’s causing it?

Some may find that it’s hormones, some know it’s their diet, some are just blessed with those amazing brown eyes from dad and acne prone skin from mom, and sometimes its a combination. I happen to be one of those lucky ladies in the last category. I can’t do anything about my genes, but I can clean up my eating.

I’ve found that binging on too much sugar makes my face just explode with zits. Eating clean has made a huge difference in my skin. I watched a youtube video the other day about clearing acne with an antioxidant rich diet. Check out the video here. I try to keep any added sugar from my diet period. I also incorporate as many vitamin and mineral rich foods into my diet as possible. Adding spinach and fruit to my protein smoothies. Eating more veggies than pasta at dinner. Taking a multi vitamin. All of those small changes make a difference.

I know. It seems like it may not make a difference, but sweating can help get the gunk out of your pores and circulate the blood so your skin renews itself more quickly. It also makes you feel great and keeps my stress levels in check. I’ve also noticed that when I exercise, I don’t want to destroy my progress by eating junk so I eat more healthily.

Just like with your diet, water makes a huge difference. It flushes out toxins, circulates the blood, and keeps your precious skin hydrated. When my skin starts to look sallow or grimy, I can almost always trace it back to how much water I’ve been consuming recently. It also helps with filling me up so I don’t get the cravings for high sugar foods.

Beauty regimen

Here’s the juicy stuff. Use what works. Now you know me, I am cruelty free and as natural as possible. It’s made a difference. Just like with inside your body, you want to know whats going on the outside as well. If you can’t pronounce the ingredients, it may not be the best for you.

To initially clear my skin, I started with Paula’s Choice Benzoyl Peroxide treatment. At the same time I’m using a charcoal face wash called Natural Body Care Charcoal Facial Detox. It’s worked great so far. But you may not have the same skin as me, so as I said before find something that works for you and stick with it. Now, once you’ve washed, tone. I use apple cider vinegar and water with a little bit of lavender oil. You can find my recipe here. Then I treat any spots with tea tree oil. I talk about how here. Now, moisturize. Use something that works for you. I don’t have a specific one I use all the time because I rotate them out. But I do make sure my day moisturizer has an spf. I mostly use Coola face spf.

These can be soooo messy but so much fun. It’s like you can be your own chemist. I use several and mix in and out the ingredients. I have to say the most effective is raw natural unfiltered honey. If you do nothing else, this will make a huge difference.

After washing, I wet my hands, grab a tablespoons worth and smear it on my face. Beware- it gets everywhere, but it leaves wherever it touched baby booty soft. I let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Longer if you can stand it, like an hour. It has been the biggest game changer for me hands down. I also use indian healing clay and apple cider vinegar. It really cleans out your pores.

When my skin is really bad, I’ll do the honey mask after my morning wash and the indian healing clay after my night wash. You can even add essential oils or spices such as turmeric or cinnamon. I’m pretty sure I remember hearing that the acv neutralizes the turmeric so use water on those days. Have fun with it, just test it out because some of these can be pretty strong.

If you see even a small difference, keep it up. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done harsh things to clear my skin and end up damaging it more because of my impatience. One thing I’ve been guilty in the past of doing is picking at my pimples. So take my advice and don’t pick. It really only makes it worse by inflaming the skin and leaving dark spots behind. Let them go down with the products and diet. You make have to look at the pimple for a few days, but it’s better than looking at a dark spot for months on end.

I hope any of this information can help you. If you have different remedies I would absolutely love to hear them. As I said, I am still not completely acne free, but slowly I’m getting there and these things have worked for me.

Leave a reply if any of these things worked for you. Do you have any other tips for me? I know how miserable it can be to have frustrating skin.

Grow Longer Hair

8 Steps to Grow Your Hair Longer and Stronger

This is a list of 8 steps to grow your hair. Mine didn’t grow for years and I couldn’t understand why either. So I did some research and started making small changes.

I stopped using so much heat, started going longer between washes and the biggest difference I saw was incorporating no-poo into my routine. You would not believe the results (which is why I’ve included pictures). Above is from my wedding (couldn’t find a good more recent picture, but like I said it didn’t grow for years) and the one below is from a day date with my hubby. I would say my hair stayed the same length for about 4 years. I maybe had one or two inches in that time. Once I started doing these, it took only about a month before I noticed how significantly longer my hair was. They’re not as quick as the inversion method, but they’re things you can incorporate and keep up with to keep your hair healthy and growing.

1. Don’t wash it everyday.

I know this seems gross, but washing (especially with conventional shampoo and conditioner) your hair everyday, strips it of its natural oils. That makes your hair fall out easier and break easier. Which means even if it does grown, it may not be healthy looking. I tend to wash it 2 times a week max and that’s if I get too sweaty from working out and there’s just no way around it. I’ve gone up to five days without washing if I see no oil at my scalp and feel no itching or build up. Also, don’t pile it on top of your head to wash. Massage your fingers and nails on your scalp. This is part of what makes the inversion method so successful. It stimulates the blood flow and just feels good.

2. Comb it with a wide toothed comb after you wash and leave it.

Don’t play with it too much. I know it’s tempting…that just washed feel. aaaah. You’ll notice you lose less hair when you don’t play in it though and it’s less likely to break.

3. Instead of towel drying or even worse blowdrying, use an old t-shirt.

I twist my hair inside of the t-shirt (not too tight though) and let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes. Then I braid it and forget it about. I rarely lose any hairs as opposed to when I towel dry and create friction on my precious mane. This helps with frizz. Which has been one of my hair issues for a long time. Goes with the curly hair territory.

4. Trim it.

Every 8 weeks or so. You can do this yourself at home. Part it in the middle, twist (as if you’re putting it in a bun, and use haircutting shears to trim the bottom 1/2 inch or however far up your split ends are. This keeps you from having to cut even more off in the long run. It also gets rid of that unkempt look that slit ends causes.

5. Don’t use heat.

Now are there times I want my hair to look a certain way? Yes, but I avoid heat if I can. There are so many tutorials on youtube to get curls with no heat. Try one that works for you. I pretty much live in some kind of braid or bun. Let’s face it, I can be lazy. When I use heat, its once or twice a month, if that and the heat setting is set low. I get less split ends and I don’t have to trim as much off.

6. Choose your shampoo and conditioner wisely.

I switch back and forth between Theorie Green Tea Energizing Shampoo and conditioner and using the no-poo method.

I would say the biggest game changer for me and why my hair finally started to grow, was switching to no poo for a while. It made such a difference in how shiny my hair was and how healthy it looked. I cannot stress how great it was for my thick, coarse, curly hair. It keeps the build up off of my scalp (which prevents your hair from growing) and saves money… shampoo is expensive!

7. Deep conditioning treatments.

I use a combination of treatments based on what I have available to me at that time. Coconut oil, almond oil or even castor oil are some of my favorites. I have made FarahDhukai’s Hot Oil treatment. I use almond oil instead because that’s the oil my hair responds best to. I’ve also used Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque sometimes. Your hair smells great afterwards. With the deep repair masque you want to make sure you don’t put it directly on your scalp. That will defeat the purpose.

8. Love your hair.

Give it a little massage while your sitting on the couch. It feels amazing and stimulates growth. I also do this when I’m washing, conditioning it and drying it. Get the blood flowing up there. It works, believe me.

I followed these steps and my hair has grown from just below my bra strap (as seen in the picture from my wedding) to me having to keep it out of my butt crack. My bangs grew from my eyebrows to almost all the way back to the length of the rest of my hair in just over a year. Give these a try and go whip that hair back and forth girl!

I mentioned above about the inversion method. I’ve seen on Farah Dhukai’s YouTube channel that you can flip your head upside down and massage in a warm oil mixture and it will make your hair grow in weeks. I haven’t tried it yet, but I am going to and will let you know how fast my hair grows.

If you’ve tried it let me know about your results:)

Cruelty Free Product Reviews

I’ve compiled a list of Cruelty Free Product Reviews of makeup, skincare, and household products.  A few years ago, I decided to embark on a cruelty free lifestyle.  After learning of all the cruel and torturous things they do to test products on animals, I decided to go completely cruelty free. It’s a fun journey filled with a ton of research. I hope through this post to share some knowledge, give real reviews, and make it easier to go cruelty free too. ♥This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support:) If you’d prefer to check out the product without my Amazon link, I’ve included website links in which I receive no compensation. Happy Shopping!♥

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Brow Definer I’ve used the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz for a couple years…way before I knew it was cruelty free (Thank goodness it is!). I also began using her brow definer which has become my go to brow product. They are expensive, but they last for a long time, so it eases the sting of the price tag. They also come in 10 colors so you know you’ll find your shade. It blends really well and can be brushed through to your desired look with the awesome attached spoolie. If you’re looking for a brow product that lasts and lives up to all the hype, definitely give the Brow Wiz or Brow definer a try.

ELF Brushes and Brush Cleaner That’s Eyes, Lips, Face if you didn’t know.  You can find this brand at most drug stores, but I’ve gotten most of my brushes from Target. They are really inexpensive and last a long time. They are coming out with so many new brushes and they are high quality too. You really don’t feel like you’re spending less than $7 or $8. The brush cleaner is great for those daily brush cleanings and it smells wonderful. If you’re looking for inexpensive makeup brushes, ELF would be the perfect place to start.

Milani Extreme Liquid Eyeliner I’m pretty sure I’ve been using this eyeliner for over 10 years. It is one of my all time favorites. It’s easy to apply, jet black, and doesn’t budge until you tell it to. I’m not sure if they’ve always been cruelty free, but thank goodness they are. It’s affordable, lasts a long time, and so easy to use…even for a liner novice.

Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation One of my favorite high end brands. They have a great range of products. But my favorite by far is the Cocoa Powder Foundation. It smells like chocolate! Pretty hard not to lick my face when I use it. IT goes on smoothly and blends well. It’s definitely light to medium coverage, so if you’re looking for a full coverage powder, this is probably not the one for you. Great to put over a liquid foundation though. I did notice that they discontinued some of the colors, so the darker your skin the more difficult it is to find. Smells wonderful and goes on well.

Cover FX Foundation Drops These foundation drops are magical! You can pretty much make your own foundation depending on whatever you blend it into. I’ve used primer, moisturizer, SPF, and facial oil. You can make it sheerer or fuller coverage based on how many drops you use. I’ve gotten the best results using their primer, but don’t let that stop you from experimenting! They’re expensive…not gonna lie. But I’ve had a bottle last me for a year. And they have 24 different shades. You can put powder foundation or setting powder on top and voile! Flawless skin.

Skin Care

Coola I use their Unscented Matte Tint SPF. I’m onto bottle number 5 or 6 now. It’s that amazing! It’s so light and blendable. No white cast…even on my brown skin. And it soaks into the skin really well. It gives a very small amount of color so if you’re looking for a full coverage SPF, you may want to try something else. Such a great product, especially for us girls who are on the oily side. This is a great brand in general. I’ve been able to try some of their other products such as their new SPF Primer, but nothing will compare to my Matte Tint.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel I’ve been using the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peels for about 7 years now. They are amazing! You will never so your skin look so clear, bright and glowing as you do the morning after using one of these peels. Can’t say enough good things about them. They make your skin look younger. They help with brightening and getting rid of dark spots and acne. They’re not harsh or irritating. The only thing is the price. They can be expensive so I tend to use them every other day. I also purchase from Ebay to combat the price. Just be careful and make sure they’re a reputable seller and aren’t giving you expired product. You’ll thank me for this one. I promise.

Paula’s choice A great range of products that work! They have so many great products geared towards mature skin. You can never start to early in my opinion. But my favorite and most effective is the Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment 2.5%. Paula’s Choice offers it in and 5% as well if you want something a little bit stronger. You can use it as a spot treatment, but it’s gentle enough to be massaged over the entire face. There’s a noticeable difference of skin clearing when you sleep in it and I even wear it under my makeup. It’s more expensive than a drug store brand, but you can make it last longer by only using it at night. It doesn’t irritate my skin or make it flaky like some benzoyl peroxide products can. They offer travel sizes if you want to try it out and save a little bit of money.

Eminence My husband running a spa has its perks. He introduced me to the Coconut Age Corrective Moisturizer. This Moisturizer is amazing! A little goes a long way too. Just a pinky nails work will cover your whole face and it corrects over night.  It makes my skin look so good when I wake up. I’ve used their Stone crop gel wash as well. It’s such a great skin care line. But this little beauty is my all time favorite!

Thanks for reading my Cruelty Free Product Reviews. I hope my recommendations and reviews help you even a little in your cruelty free lifestyle no matter how long the journey has been for you. If you want more reviews and brand lists check out This site will make your journey easier too!

Bump up your beauty regimen and achieve that glowing, youthful skin and shiny, long hair you’ve always wanted using these 4 essential oils. Keep reading to find out how to use these 4 essential oils for naturally amazing skin and hair.

I’ve used the brands in the links that I have, so i know they work well. If you do purchase through the link, I absolutely appreciate it!♥

Lavender Essential Oil

You want to make sure you’re getting the real stuff Lavendula Agustufola. In some of my research I found that it has anti-inflammatory properties.

1. I mentioned in my no poo post about using it in my “conditioner”. It moisturizes and makes my hair smell amazing.

2. I also use it in my beauty masks as well. A few drops with some tea tree oil ,which I mentioned in my natural beauty faves post, in some raw honey or combined with acv( apple cider vinegar) and indian healing clay can help to heal acne and other skin conditions.

3. I make a spray with water and use it on my feet at night to keep calm and fall asleep faster. Just 15 or 20 drops with some water and spray it on the bottom of your feet. The pores there help absorb it into the body pretty quickly. This isn’t used directly on the face or hair, but part of beautiful skin is getting your beauty rest.

Bonus Use!– I also use it in my dryer. I put a few drops onto my dryer ball separators  and my clothes smell so great when they’re dry. Not over powering either.

Tea Tree Oil-

This stuff isn’t the most pleasant smelling. But it works wonders in killing bacteria.

1. I use it on a cotton pad and hold it for several seconds over my acne and almost immediately it is gone. I’ve seen firsthand how it can shrink a zit over night (if it’s a monster you can use garlic although it does sting a bit). I use it on my face mostly in masks and to spot treat.

2. Combine it with a carrier oil, like jojoba, and use it as your moisturizer.

Peppermint Oil-

Peppermint can moisturize your scalp and keep dandruff at bay.
1. I use peppermint oil in my shampoo. When I say shampoo  I mean using baking soda and water to make it,like my recipe here. I add 10-20 drops.

2. It keeps you alert too so you can sniff it or use it in a diffuser to wake yourself up a little bit. It helps with mental clarity and I’ve even heard it can help you remember better…not sure if that’s true or not. Better than drinking too much caffeine and sugar, which can damage your skin from the inside out.

Rosemary Oil

Rosemary Essential oil is said to promote hair growth.

1. When I make my baking soda “shampoo” I use peppermint and rosemary drops to to help with hair growth. It smells great too.

2. The mask I used Rosemary oil in is 10 to 20 drops in a couple teaspoons of almond oil. Heat it slightly in the microwave and massage into your scalp. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before a shower (longer is better in this case though). Wash it out with your shampoo and conditioner. It leaves your hair feeling softer and helps with hair growth.

Essential oils aren’t just for smelling but for helping you achieve your most beautiful you! Try them out and let me know below if you’ve used these oils or any others to get great hair and skin. Choa Bellas! May God bless you and keep you (Numbers 6:24).

5 Best Natural Exfoliators for your skin

Tired of dull skin? Wanting to get rid of some texture? Don’t want to spend money on an expensive exfoliator filled with who knows what? Well I’ve got you covered. Keep reading to find out the 5 best natural exfoliators for your skin.

We’ve all been there. Looking down and seeing that dry crackley skin. Not cute. Whether it’s on your feet, your legs or your face, everyone wants to look their best and textured, dead skin can prevent us from doing that. I can’t count how many times I’ve had that ruddy textured look to my skin. The best way to get rid of that besides drinking lots of water is to exfoliate that dead skin away. It’s got ta go!

Now the list I’m giving you is of physical exfoliants, meaning you have to manually work them into the skin in order to see results. There are chemical exfoliants, but that’s a whole other post.

1. Sand

I know, I know…not every one lives close to the beach. If you do, this is an easy and free way to exfoliate. As I sit here I’m dreaming of the beaches of Maui and wanting to go back so badly. When I would go, I’d come back and feel like I had had a pedicure.  It was because  those small grains of sand massaged all of that dead skin right off of my feet. All you’ll need is to go to the beach (lake, pond, sandbox) and sit near the water line and massage the sand all over tootsies and legs.

2. Coffee

Don’t live near the beach (or large body of water)? Well use coffee. I’ve been using it for years and it works miracles. Beware, if you use it on your face, go easy because those little grounds beans can hurt. I usually do this in the shower or over my kitchen sink (easier clean up). Just take a handful of coffee and massage it into my skin. I focus on the areas where the skin tends to build up more, my t-zone and jawline…pesky hormonal acne. Sometimes I even use an essential oil such as lavender to get more benefits.

3. Sugar

Sugar is a great option if you want something a little more gentle. You can buy sugar scrubs at pretty much any beauty store, but why spend the money when you most likely have the ingredients in your pantry. Combine it with some almond, coconut oil, or my favorite jojoba oil for a great smelling and moisturizing scrub. Use the same method as with coffee and massage it into the skin. I tend to use this mixture on my legs before I shave to get rid of all that dead skin. Makes them silky smooth and makes shaving easier too.

4. Turmeric and Cinnamon Mixture

These are spices that you probably have on your spice rack right at this moment. They’re from that curry you made or those cinnamon sugar cookies you baked for that party. What you probably didn’t know is they are great anti-inflammatories and they can also help you battle your acne issues while exfoliating. Turmeric has been used for thousands of years in the eastern parts of the world, not only for cooking but medicinal purposes as well.

I use both spices in a honey mask to help combat my skin problems. Just half a palm full of each and a tablespoon of honey create a soothing and tasty mask. I let it sit for 30 minutes or more. Once it’s time to wash it off, I scrub my skin in circular motions to rub off dead skin. The only drawback is the turmeric stains everything, your skin, hair, clothes and nails. So be aware of that before you put this mask on.

5. Salt

I know, just makes my poor pores sting thinking about it. Salt is great for your skin though, and it can help with acne. Epsom salt is made up of magnesium sulfate and can soothe sore muscles and help the body to detox in a bath. Bonus! It can be used for the skin too. Soak in the bath and then grab a handful, you may need a partner, and work it into the skin. I’ve never used this on my face before so because cautious if you’re going to use it there.

You can use it in the shower too. Same deal just standing. Grab a palm full and gently work into the spots you want to exfoliate.

Now that you’ve gotten rid of your alligator skin, remember to moisturize so you can get that JLo glow….well we hope right?! God bless you all, lovelies! Thanks for reading!
