A review of 28 Days A Romantic Suspense by Lexi Buchanan.
Sentenced to death…
All hope gone…
Until he receives a visit from victim #6
Condemned for a crime he didn’t commit, Quinten Peterson sat on death row praying for a miracle. He just never expected his angel of mercy to be the girl he fell in love with so long ago.
The press called her a victim, but Saige Lockwood was a survivor. And she had twenty-eight days to discover the truth about what really happened to her that fateful night, eight years ago.
With time running out, Saige desperately needed to unlock her memories . . . before it was too late.
My thoughts ya’ll:
I knew I was going to love this book because suspense and romance are the perfect match to me. I absolutely could not put this book down, no matter how hard I tried or how much sleep I lost. Saige is a strong character even though she has so many obstacles thrown at her and Quentin is the ultimate book boyfriend. He is sweet and gentle and respectful even when you wouldn’t blame him if he wasn’t. And that beard…I’d forgive him for almost anything because of it. His prison stay and death sentence really made me think about just how many of our prisoners are probably sitting in prison or on death row that are just as innocent.
The writing was so gut wrenching at times and there were a few places where you felt like Lexi slapped you because you just didn’t see it coming. The suspense and mystery were killer, pun intended (hehehe), and the love story is epic and heartbreaking at the same time. You are just hoping that by some miracle of God, that Quentin is released and they can resume the life that they should have had all along. There are some twists and turns, even until the very last few pages of the book, that you just don’t see coming and you hope Lexi has it in her to write a companion novel because damn…did not see that coming. At. All.
It’s a suspenseful ride for all who are hoping that Quentin doesn’t lose his life in 28 days. There are several points of views that bring the story together and make you understand all that went on at the time of her abduction and just before and after. You find out the back story of Quentin and how he and Saige come to know each other. His brother is also an integral part to Saige’s journey of discovery.
Saige is working at a diner and hears something that changes her life. Her accused abductor and murderer of 5 other women is on death row and has 28 days to live. She’s confused and finds herself looking for answers because she has no memory of the time around her kidnapping and torture and can’t seem to find any malice for him. Even though she should. He did terrible things to her, right?
Through this journey, she finds that all is not what it seems and some of the people closest to her are not who they claim to be. I loved the suspense of the story and that you were discovering all of the deceptions and secrets at the same time as Saige.
Why you should read it:
I cannot stress how much you need to read this story. It’s intriguing, mysterious, and sexy. It’s also heart wrenching and filled with twists and turns you don’t see coming. I’m warning you now that you’ll pull an all nighter trying find out what happens to Quentin.
